It has been a while since a new book update was shared on this blog. Not because I was not reading, but because I lacked the discipline to put my thoughts on paper. Or because the books impressions were not so strong to push me into writing action. But here we go:
I start with the book about cycling, which I also enjoy a lot and I did have a pleasure to meet a person recently who shares my passion. Since then we have been weekly cycling in various locations around UK, enjoying both the road and the surroundings. We have visit multiple medieval castles on our way and explored the England during the times of William the Conqueror.
To some extend the book I want to mention today is sort of similar. It does not only talk about cycling, even that this is the main topic, but it also provides a very picaresque view of the things around, which in professional cycling people often fail to notice. I am talking about Kilometer Zero, by Lora Klinc, the wife of Primož Roglič, who is probably one of the most intriguing figures in the road cycling world.
I definitely recommend the book for anyone, who likes cycling, especially for those who does not really understand the inside of how the racing works. Fortunately I have already had quite an intro into it, by frequently following major races, like Tour de France and Giro d’Italia and listening to THEMOVE podcasts. But I managed to find things in the book, which I was not aware of. And of course the story of protagonist, who position is weakened from the start by the chain of unfortunate events, and who is finding the way to the very top is always inspiring. Get your inspiration from the book, take your bike and ride towards the sunset or a sunrise, whichever suits you more!
